5 Ways Continental Can Help You Survive Economic Uncertainty

Hire a specialist 1. Rather than hire a generalist full time, hire a specialist for a specific project. Continental has a number of incredibly talented technical specialists in a variety of areas that have taken early retirement packages. These professionals are interested and willing to take on short-term projects in their field. You can put their expertise to work for your company at very affordable rates.

2. Partner with Continental on your Quality Sorting and Engineering needs. Continental has experienced Quality engineers available to help you reduce costs and improve quality. If you do get into a sorting or containment issue, Continental will provide teams of qualified sorters at rates that won't break the bank.

Stretch your Cash 3. Stretch your cash by utilizing our "Bundled Service" program. When you have a project that requires staff and equipment, call Continental for a quote on bundled service. We will provide the personnel, computers, software, and any other equipment and supplies needed to get the job done. You pay nothing upfront, just a monthly invoice.

4. Outsource your Human Resources. Handling HR involves many hours of talking to Insurance Agents, dealing with Workman's Comp issues, filing complicated tax forms — not to mention the time it takes to recruit and hire new employees. Continental's No Hassle Staffing Service takes care of all of that and more, leaving you time to concentrate on your core services. Call us today to find out more about this program.

5. Use Temporary Staff for workload fluctuations. When the workload suddenly increases, call Continental for "instant" temporary staff. They are there when you need them and gone when you don't.

Call Continental for all of your staffing and quality needs.

Wacky Patent of the Month

Just what you have always been waiting for. A device used to catch bird droppings (I thought that was called a car).

Bird Diaper

This handy invention, patented by Bertha A. Dlugi on April 21, 1959 as a "Sanitary Appliance For Birds", consists of a patch of material straped to the back end of a bird for the purpose of catching anything that may come out before it hits you, your car or someone you love.

This invention was developed around the time when keeping parakeets and other similar birds as a household pet was gaining popularity. The unique characteristics of these types of birds meant that they were usually allowed to fly freely around the house. The downside to this is that birds cannot be "easily" house trained. Therefore, Bertha Dlugi thought it necessary to develop a device that kept her furniture from looking like a car parked under a birds nest. Thus...the "Sanitary Appliance For Birds" was born.

Great Inventions of the 20th Century:
Corn Flakes

Corn flakes The next time you wake up to a nice bowl of Kellogg's Corn Flakes think about this...corn flakes were invented by accident while trying to help improve hospital food.

Will Keith Kellogg was the founder of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, founded in 1906. In 1894, Kellogg was trying to improve the diet of hospital patients. He was searching for a digestible bread substitute using the process of boiling wheat. Kellogg accidentally left a pot of boiled wheat to stand and the wheat became tempered (soften). When Kellogg rolled the tempered or softened wheat and let it dry, each grain of wheat emerged as a large thin flake. The flakes turned out to be tasty cereal. Kellogg had invented corn flakes.
